Amaro Pargo was perhaps the most famous Spanish privateer in history, due to the fact that he operated in the years known as the Golden Age of piracy. He dominated the route between Cadiz and the Caribbean, attacking the enemy powers of the Spanish crown, and achieving a fame similar to that of Francis Drake.
Philip V named him lord of rope and knife. Born in San Cristóbal de La Laguna in 1678, he died in 1747 and was buried in the Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán in the town, where his tomb can be seen today, with an engraving of a skull winking at the right eye, with two crossed tibias.
In his will he wrote that he owned a chest full of gold and silver jewellery, precious stones and paintings. As a result, his house in Machado has been ransacked for centuries by treasure hunters, without success. In 2013 a team of archaeologists from the Autonomous University of Madrid exhumed her remains for DNA tests and a reconstruction of her face.
In that laboratory work they found a fragment of an enigma that told the exact location of the treasure. We've been overtaken by a trafficker who trades in anything that makes him money, so we need you to pose as potential buyers and find out what's inside.
